About this race: After 12 years in office, incumbent Terry Bergeson is seeking another four-year term. Her platform: better school funding and a continued push for testing and educational accountability. The position is nonpartisan. Challenging her is Randy Dorn, head of the second-largest school employees' union in Washington and a former lawmaker in the state House of Representatives. Bergeson is a former head of the state teachers union, which has endorsed her opponent.
