Personal: Wordinger and his wife, Huynh, have an adult daughter. They live on Spokane County's West Plains, near Fairchild Air Force Base.
Education: Graduated from New Prairie High School in New Carlisle, Ind. Earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., and, while serving in the Air Force, a master of science degree in systems management from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Professional: Joined the Air Force in 1973 and retired in 1993 as a major. Served as an electronic warfare officer. Since leaving the Air Force, Wordinger has worked for Centennial Mills in Cheney, and as an engineer for Columbia Lighting. For the past five years, he has been an electrical engineer for L&S Engineering in downtown Spokane.
Political: No political experience.
Key issues: Wordinger wants to improve the economy by removing government restrictions on the insurance industry and other businesses and reducing business taxes. "Let the business owners run their own business," he said. "The better my employer does, the better off I am." He favors a tax break or credit for parents who send their children to private schools. Wordinger wants people to make more of their own choices and accept more personal responsibility. "Rescind the Growth Management Act so people can live where they want to and how they want to, and rescind laws that try to legislate morality," he said.
