Another Spokane pharmacy robbed
A man holding a sign demanding OxyContin robbed a Rite Aid Pharmacy in Spokane Valley this morning, the latest in a string of drugstore robberies. The robber did not display a weapon and no one was hurt during the 8:50 a.m. robbery. Officers who happened to be nearby arrived quickly at the store, 12115 E. Sprague Ave., but the robber still got away. He is described as a skinny, white male in his 20s, about 5 foot 9 and 160 lbs. He had a mustache and either acne or other scarring on his right cheek. Witnesses said he was wearing blue jeans, a blue-hooded sweatshirt and large, dark sunglasses. He had dark complexion and short, dark hair. Get the Flash Player to see this video.
The man got away on foot as well, even though officers used a police canine to track him. Robbers have hit several drugstores this summer in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. Last week Coeur d’Alene Police arrested Patrick and Carrie Augerlavoie of Hayden, Idaho, when a pharmacy owner followed them to Post Falls, after Patrick Augerlavoie allegedly asked about an OxyContin prescription. They are suspects in three pharmacy robberies in North Idaho, but authorities believe more criminals are involved in the many robberies. A June robbery in Spokane involved a man dressed as a woman robbing Walgreens at 5500 N. Division St. He also asked for OxyContin by name, then left the store on foot. Anyone with information about today's or other pharmacy robberies is asked to call the Spokane Valley Police at (509) 242-TIPS. |
