Logan's Magazine
The story: While recovering from a brain injury, Logan Olson found the inspiration to start a fashion magazine for the disabled.

A heart attack in a haunted house in 2001 changed Logan Olson’s life forever. After emergency personnel finally restarted Logan's heart, the 16-year-old high school student fell into a coma for several weeks. When she awoke, she had no memory of what had happened. The heart attack had left her with a brain injury. Logan had to relearn everything, from eating and sitting to eventually walking again.
After seven months of hospitals and rehabilitation wards, Logan came home to live with her parents Tim and Laurie. Her mom took on the task of full-time caregiver. In their long days at home together, they hatched an idea to start a fashion magazine for young people with disabilities.
I love stories about inspirational ideas that work. Logan and her mom Laurie just knew they had a great idea and they spent the next several years making it happen. Last week, in a conference room at the graphic design firm of Klundt/Hosmer, Logan opened a box and held the finished magazine in her hands. “Hey me,” she said seeing her picture on the cover.
This video was a challenge to edit. I was dealing with a lot of past history that needed to be illustrated and long interviews that I had to edit down. I started shooting this story last spring when graphic designer Jean Klundt invited me to a production meeting with Logan and Laurie. In the first minute of meeting Logan, I knew I needed to follow this story to the end.

Another brilliant job Colin.
Hell of a job Colin. A well paced story that kept my attention (which is huge) the entire way.

Every time I watch you put one of these stories together, I see you agonize about the content's relevant contribution towards the final outcome. With Logan's story, you've certainly done a fantastic job of weaving the past into the present and giving us an idea of what the future will bring for these individuals. This has got to be one of your best stories so far, certainly one of my favorite, that deserves to be shared beyond the local community. Thankfully, you've been able to do that with it's posting on Video Journal. Another great job Colin. Keep it up!
Nice job Colin. In a nutshell you've captured the low's to the high's that have brought them to this positive point.
What is truly cool is that you given me a few views of my neice that I wasn't around to see.
Much Appreciated!
Fabulous Colin. Logan is such an inspiration.
I am very interested in this story for numerous reasons. It's amazing what they have pulled of and the relentless drive that they showed. I also relate to the story because I had a brain injury 5 years ago and went through similar rehab, now I own a film company that is about to release it's first two films that I produced. I would like to learn how to get in touch with Logan and her family to invite them to my film and the celebrations around it's release.

Thank you so much for putting this video together, as it really gives a wonderful glimpse into what Logan and her family have gone through to make her dream come true. It also shares how far she has come in her rehab and gives our family hope with our precious daughter Madisen who recently went through a long 6 mo hosp stay (12 wk drug induced coma) and is now in a wheelchair with brain damage and epilepsy. Logan is a true inspiration for us! We would LOVE to be in touch with Logan and her family for many reasons (possibly share our Maddie's experience and wheelchair & walker issues being a 10-12 yr old). We are also neighbors of the Olson's and know TJ personally. Darling family! Logan you are GORGEOUS! Congrats on the magazine!! Kim Schafer 11012 N. Acoma St. AND 10102 N. Comanche Dr.
Colin - I now live in Missouri, but I stay up with spokesmanreview.com. I look forward to seeing your stories to bring me back to the place I've lived for 35 years. Thank you for making me laugh, cry and simply smile-and thank you for all of your hard work.
Colin.
Beautifully done. I am so thankful that we were able to team up on a project that has so much meaning to both of us. I know Logan's story is already making a difference in the lives of many, many people, and will continue to do so. (Thank you to the Spokesman Review as well-you have a great guy representing you!)

This was a great video. She really looks great for someone who had a brain tumor. This should be an inspiration for everyone. :)
