It's 8 o'clock somewhere

Today we conference-dialed in editor Steve Smith who is in a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden, where they do indeed have telephones. He asked if everyone could hear him over the jazz trio. Some of his Swedish friends were interested in listening in on the meeting over their hors d'oeurves and cocktails. It is currently late evening over there, where Smith is visiting with a series of communications professionals. ( Full post )

Like OMG, 2010 is < 2 yrs away

Spokane to host 2010 skate event: Perhaps the S-R editors aren't as excited as the rest of town, but folks are definitely curious about the upcoming second round - specifically, whether it'll be more expensive to get in. After much discussion, editors agreed that yesterday's bomb threat at Eastern Washington University made two things clear: Online and radio coverage are timely deliveries to report breaking news as it happens, but for something that is only relevant news while it is still happening, editors decided not to give it in-newspaper coverage the next morning.
