Woman dies, another injured in car crash

One woman was killed and another injured Thursday night when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Thor and Hartson.

Spokane Police responded at 11 p.m. to a call that a Honda Civic had collided with a Chevrolet Suburban at that intersection, spokesman Dick Cottam said in a release.

The Civic driver was pinned inside her car by the impact, and had to be extracted by the Spokane Fire Department.

The Civic driver, who was not named, died at the scene, Cottam said. Her a
ge also was not provided.

A 24-year-old woman was driving the Suburban. She suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

The 24-year-old woman -- who also wasn't named by police -- was treated and released from an area hospital, Cottam said.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, he said.
